Torah Portion for Your Date of Birth

Ezekiel Two Sticks

Stick of Joseph Joined to Stick of Judah

Huh, this is interesting. You can put in your DOB at Chabad.org and it will show you what Torah portion was read the week you were born. Not only was I born on a Shabbat, but the Torah portion was Vayigash. What was the Haftorah?

Ezekiel 37:15-28

Coincidence? I think not!

Part 1 of Bible Secrets Revealed aired on The History Channel Wednesday after being moved from Monday. Apparently, the next 5 episodes will also run on Wednesdays instead of Mondays. You can watch the full length video above in case you missed it. You can also ask the producers a question directly HERE if you’re so inclined.

Something I find interesting is the strange silence from conservative scholars. Most Christians are probably waiting for fiery rebuttals against these Atheists and Agnostics by conservatives. Except, no fiery rebuttals can be put forth. Why? Because nothing in the series was factual false. Everything talked about in this episode has been widely known throughout the academic circles by both liberal and conservative scholars alike for a very long time. The only people who are unaware of them are Christians.

Serpents, Aliens, and Jews – Oh My!

aliensn

The Huffington Post recently ran an article entitled Belief That Jews Killed Jesus Is Held By Over a Quarter of Americans outlining a recent survey conducted by the Anti-Defamation League that indicates 26% of Americans still blame the Jews for the death of Jesus.

A recent survey by the Anti-Defamation League determined that 26% of Americans still believe that “Jews were responsible for the death of Christ.” Though that percentage has decreased from 31% in 2011, it still accounts for over a quarter of America.

This was a random survey polling 1,200 people, but I would like to see a survey conducted only of those who identify as Christians. My guess is that number would be substantially higher.

It doesn’t take long when you wander around in the blogosphere to encounter such loons who blame every known malady of mankind and the world on the Jews. Christians aren’t immune to this kind of poison and are usually the main culprits. Many such crazy theories originated within Christian circles such as The Serpent Seed Doctrine. It’s certainly not new but a modern form is taking shape……..and gaining steam.

Iran Ponders Whether US is Still “The Great Satan” – Their Conclusion: Well, Duh!

Iran Revolutionary Guard

Iran’s Revolutionary Guards committed to ‘Death to America’ – Israel News, Ynetnews.

The Revolutionary Guards, the elite Iranian regime’s army, said Saturday they are committed to the slogan “Death to America,” chanted at official ceremonies, just days before the 34th anniversary of the storming of the American Embassy in Tehran.

“The slogan Death to America is the symbol of strength and determination of the Iranian nation against the dominance of the United States, which is an oppressive and untrustworthy nation,” said the Revolutionary Guards on their official website.

This would be funny if it wasn’t so deadly serious.

I watched Glenn Beck’s For the Record the other night on EMP’s. Although I feel Beck is a little bit on the ‘fear monger’ side, still it was a little bit sobering. How smug Americans giggled at the supposed failed test missile launches conducted by Iran and North Korea were not really failed at all, they did exactly what is required for an EMP launch. The problem is they don’t have the nuclear capabilities………yet.

The Wages of Sin is Death

Romans 6:23

Romans 6:23

Everyone knows this verse by heart – “For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life through Jesus”. Is the consequence of sin death? Is there no other remedy to sin other than a blood sacrifice? The lesson Paul is giving is not really death, but eternal life. This is the central message of the Christian NT – if you believe in Jesus you’ll have eternal life – if not you’ll be condemned to eternal torment. But, is this the message of the Hebrew Bible?

Tovia Singer on Beyond the Matrix

I love, love, love Tovia Singer. This is probably the best I’ve heard and it spoke directly to me in so many ways. It’s long but time well spent.

Exo 20:3  “You shall have no other gods upon my face.

I have studied this before. You are not to put another god onto the face of God, ie. turn anything into HaShem. That’s what makes Christianity the most idolatrous religion of all – they have put an image onto His face and called it HaShem. It’s one thing to believe in another god like Buddha, but it’s entirely forbidden to say Buddha is HaShem. Likewise, it’s one thing to say Jesus is a god or devine, but to say he is HaShem is the most egregious form of idolatry.

This is why it’s so hard to talk to Christians about this – they don’t see it as idolatry because they think Jesus IS HaShem, therefore they are not worshiping another god. But they fail to see that transposing Jesus onto the face of HaShem IS the same thing – idolatry.

Deu 4:15-16  “Therefore watch yourselves very carefully. Since you saw no form on the day that the LORD spoke to you at Horeb out of the midst of the fire,  (16)  beware lest you act corruptly by making a carved image for yourselves, in the form of any figure, the likeness of male or female,

HaShem has NO FORM of ANY FIGURE in the likeness of a MALE or FEMALE! Putting a figure of a male or female upon His face is Idolatry. Period.
